La Vida Scholars is a new college preparation program in Lynn, Massachusetts that requires parents to deposit $50 a month for three years. These college savings accounts are then matched dollar-for-dollar and can be used to cover college costs. A radio segment on WBUR, the Boston affiliate of National Public Radio, takes an indepth look at how such incentives for greater family involvement can improve the educational attainment of low-income youth.
