New Foundation Trustees Bring Insight to the Table
Over the course of a year, Grants Management Associates has the opportunity to actively recruit and welcome new trustees to the foundations with which we work.
Foundations are increasingly looking to increase representation of their boards of directors with individuals that know the community and have subject area expertise in their fields of interest.
In the past year for example, the Foley Hoag Foundation welcomed Mosic Hacobian and Jeanne Pinado as new trustees. Mosic is the Executive Director of Urban Edge, a community development corporation in Boston. Jeanne Pinado is the Executive Director of the Madison Park Community Development Corporation.
The Rutland Corner Foundation welcomed Celina Miranda and Jennifer Chin. Jennifer, a former Associated Grant Makers of Massachusetts Fellow placed at Grants Management Associates now works with Philanthropic Advisors. Celina is the Charitable Giving Manager, Bank of New York Mellon.
In Lowell Massachusetts, three residents have been invited to serve as advisors to the Theodore Edson Parker Foundation.
The group includes D.J. Donahue, an investment manager at Moors & Cabot, Luis Pedroso, the president of Accutronics, a Chelmsford electronics firm, and Sophy Theam of Enterprise Bank in Lowell.
All three appointees have ties to the city of Lowell, where the Parker Foundation’s grantmaking is centered. The nephew of Richard and Nancy Donahue of Lowell, D.J. Donahue is an investment manager for the Greater Lowell Community Foundation. A graduate of Lowell High School, Luis Pedroso is the current president of the Greater Lowell Community Foundation. Sophy Theam is a former Parker Foundation fellow and a founder of Light of Cambodian Children, a nonprofit organization established by Cambodian-American college students for the benefit of young Cambodians living in Lowell and elsewhere in New England.
