The Physicians Foundation released a report which examines the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act and provides physicians with guidance on how this legislation will directly impact their practice of medicine.

The report, titled A Roadmap for Physicians to Health Care Reform, describes a detailed perspective on the issues that are influencing health care reform as well as major legislative changes, such as changes in payment systems, quality reporting, shared savings programs and reshaping the private health insurance market. The Waltham bookstore More Than Words provides troubled teens with more than an entry-level job.

Since its founding in 2004 with an initial stock of a pile of books found along a road, both the organization and program participants have experienced consistent success.

More Than Words is now poised for expansion to a second site.

EVENTS OF NOTE

Pamela Maksy, Financial Services Manager and Treasurer at GMA Foundations addressed the role of the trustee as fiduciary at a recent Associated Grantmakers Workshop.

She outlined what the role entails and explain how trustees can interact with their investment, tax, and legal advisors to exercise “due diligence” in safeguarding the foundation’s assets.  She also covered the basic requirements of record keeping. Continue Reading »
